Why Millions of Returning Citizens Can’t Get Jobs and Why You Should Care

Challenge Yourself To Connect

During the 10 Days of Connection, challenge yourself to connect across lines of difference. There are many ways to do that: share a meal with someone you wouldn’t normally cross paths with, read a book or watch a movie that highlights the beauty of connection, take part in #MiamiWalks to get to know a new neighborhood, etc.! Check out and RSVP to the many opportunities to connect below, and if you’d like to host a connection experience, learn more on the Host page!

This event is co-hosted by Capital One Bank and LEAP, an education and re-entry program for women transitioning from prison. During the 1st hour they will host a panel discussion about the challenges faced by returning citizens.

Presenters will share how hiring them may help the bottom lines of businesses, and make our community a kinder and safer place to live. A local employer who has hired employees with a record, an employment specialist from Transition, Inc., and a representative of LEAP will share their experiences with returning citizens in need of a second chance.

The Miracle Mile Café will close the café early for clients that day, but will welcome anyone who would like to join a connection experience from 6 to 8 pm.

Accessibility: Capital One Bank seeks to make this event as accessible as possible to individuals of all different abilities and needs and will provide the following accommodations: accessibility for anyone with mobility issues and nursing rooms. For questions or in need of additional accommodations, please call 305-506-9000 at least 24 hours in advance of the event.
